Franz Kafka, Letters to Milena

I am constantly trying to communicate something incommunicable, to explain something inexplicable, to tell about something I only feel in my bones and which can only be experienced in those bones.

Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild

"Make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things with previously Which May Never Have you thought of doing, or Been too hesitant to Attempt. So many people live unhappy Within Circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change Their situation Because They are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of Which May Appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit Within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is His passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with New experiences, and there Hence it is No Greater Joy than to Have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have any available new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life That will at first Appear to you to be crazy. But you Become accustomed to eleven Such a life you will see STI full meaning and Its incredible beauty. "

Albert Camus, from Notebooks, 1951-1959

"Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn’t have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn’t have to be a walk during which you’ll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don’t find meaning but “steal” some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn’t make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be."

Franz Kafka

“I dream of a grave, deep and narrow, where we could clasp each other in our arms as with clamps, and I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us any more”

Simon Van Booy, The Secret Lives of People in Love

“I wonder if things can happen too early or too late or if everything happens at exactly the right time. If so, how sad and beautiful.”

Llueve,

detrás de los cristales, llueve y llueve

sobre los chopos medio deshojados,

sobre los pardos tejados,

sobre los campos, llueve.

Pintaron de gris el cielo

y el suelo

se fue abrigando con hojas,

se fue vistiendo de otoño.

La tarde que se adormece

parece

un niño que el viento mece

con su balada en otoño.

Una balada en otoño,

un canto triste de melancolía,

que nace al morir el día.

Una balada en otoño,

a veces como un murmullo,

y a veces como un lamento

y a veces viento.

Llueve,

Entonces, olvidando

mi mañana y tu pasado

volverías a mi lado.

Se va la tarde y me deja

la queja

que mañana será vieja

de una balada en otoño.

Llueve,

detrás de los cristales, llueve y llueve

sobre los chopos medio deshojados...

Corazón coraza. Mario Benedetti

Porque te tengo y no
porque te pienso
porque la noche está de ojos abiertos
porque la noche pasa y digo amor
porque has venido a recoger tu imagen

si no te miro amor
si no te miro

porque tú siempre existes dondequiera
pero existes mejor donde te quiero
porque tu boca es sangre
y tienes frío
tengo que amarte amor
tengo que amarte
aunque esta herida duela como dos
aunque te busque y no te encuentre
y aunque
la noche pase y yo te tenga
y no.

Charles Bukowski, from Selected Letters

It seems like anything anybody else does that you don’t do—then that’s caused because you wore shoes a size too small and you wanted to fuck your mother. Right? Actually, the so-called most well-balanced individual usually ends up in some useless & dry position such as President of the United States of America and ends up fucking (up) a lot of mothers & everybody else too. The pyschiatrist (spell?) is the high-paid fuzz that makes up (lies) excuses for individuals who cannot understand a decadent & horrible & useless society (govt.) & a dec. & whore & useless life. He is paid to call these people crazy (insane) (physchotic—spell?) instead of the life & the way surrounding them. The pyschiatrist is the pretty-boy liar of a stabilized hell. As you must guess, I am drunk— mean what I say.
